Nightfall Roadblock
I am unable to complete quests within Gate of Desolation, Gate of Pain, etc.
It seems a sad statement, I have 4 healers in in group (Talhkora, Dunko, Kihm, Menlo), MOX, maxed armor, green/gold bows, and the beasties in Nightfallen Jahai wax the group, repeatedly.
so, exactly how is one to proceed one Night has fallen?
case in point, it took me >16 minutes to take down Varesh!!
or is this part of the story line supposed to be next to impossible to complete?
Thanks for the input, it is greatly appreciated.

1) you have WAY to many healers for nm. You only need 2
2) Careful pulling is sometimes the key to surviving
On my ranger i have 1 Ranger (me), sabway heroes, 1 monk, 2 ele's and a warrior/dervish
Heres the set up for sabway

Sabway or discord heroes work well there. Also, don't forget to bring Lightbringer Gaze and use it whenever you can.

Make sure you dont have other quests active. There is one quest in particular (Sorry i cant remember the name of it) That if you have it active will cause waves of Margonites to pound you when you walk out the portal to talk to Komir. Only pick up the Primary quests and after you beat NF then go back and take the secondary ones.

umm, well, I tried.
the necro hench did not help,
having only dukado in group did not help, unless dieing 2x with each group of beasties if expected in Gate of Pain mission.
single group of 6 to 8 lvl 28 beasties one has no choice on how many one pulls.
and the lightspell also useless, one cast, 30 minute recharge time, yeah,.. real useful,...
the dual group of fireball dryders, lightspell would not even cast. and of course, died with them too.
ok, so,.. any other suggestions on how to survive gate of pain without dieing??
Thank you again.

Did you take all the quests available there? I know that when I first did the main quest I had all of them active and it can make it more difficult to complete the main quest.
Of course careful pulling is still needed with mobs.

Try to use this or this team build.
Lightbringer Gaze is only useful against Abaddon's servants and the Terror and Torturewebdryeds are not in that class. You can, however deal a considerable damage to margonites and other torture creatures.
If you are doing Gate of Pain mission, replace one of the necro heroes with an interrupt mesmer and lock him/her on the dryeds.
Oh, and don't forget to use the Lightbringer rank, it gives you extra damage against Abaddon's servants.

I have some in various areas, these do not seem to involve the Gate of Pain mission. The beasties are "different" per se depending on which I have active going into the NF Jahai.
However, whether the beasties are storming the Gate, or aimlessly wandering around, they are still exceptionally difficult, groups of 6-8 lvl 28 beasties.
(which btw, one can NOT interrupt their Torment ability (their duplication of self))

well, with a whole rank of 4, not too much one can do, the skill to me at this time seems useless, too little damage, too long recharge time.
and with no easy way to raise LB ranks (, hence my initial problem and roadblock,...

maybe you can't kill anything because you're running with 4 healers.
i'm not sure because i'm pretty new to thinking but i think having more damage will make things die faster and dead things can't kill you.

What is your build, what are your hero builds, what is your Lightbringer title rank, do you have the Lightbringer title active, and how many groups are you fighting at a time?
As noted by others, there is no need to have 4 Monks. 2 Monks can handle it easily, as long as they have decent builds. I'd recommend the 2 hench Monks, and no hero Monks. Make sure you take interrupts for the various monsters that you face. The Dryders are Elems that deal large damage, so interrupt them to prevent the big spells from being cast.
You're description of what your problem is, is pretty vague. more details on what you are using, and what is causing you problems would help solve your problems.

what is your lightbringer title rank
4
, do you have the lightbringer title active,
and just realized one has to "display" one's rank for it to be "active"
And how many groups are you fighting at a time?
One group, in gate of pain, one group consists of 6-8 demon types, or 2 fireball dryders.
(see attachments for the two weapons i cycle through)
as noted by others, there is no need to have 4 monks. 2 monks can handle it easily, as long as they have decent builds. I'd recommend the 2 hench

well, that was an interesting lesson in humility,...
was surprisingly able to complete Gate of Pain mission (without bonus )
I did not know clearing the periphery would complete mission heh.
only Margrid and myself left standing at cut scene.
so the lightbringer being displayed helped considerably.
though still trying to figure out how the dryders were able to one shot one kill many in the group,...
any additional guidance in this venue would still be greatly appreciated.

There are several dryders in the Gate of Pain mission that are bosses. They are like level 26 or 28 something like that.
[skill]Lightning bolt[/skill] can kill any squishy in one hit usually
it hurts alot

When I did this mission and bonus I put [Maelstrom] on 2 of my hero bars, even at 0 water magic it gives 10 seconds of interrupt. It completely shutdown the dryders. Be sure to flag H/H from aoe just in case they get a spell off.

How bout some constructive help?
Little too much to ask huh
Lightbringer's Gaze is a very good skill. Although the 30 second recharge might make you think twice, always bring it. The interrupt always helps, and with your lightbringer title on it can deal a hefty amount of damage. I never run in Realm Of Torment without it!

well part of your problem seems to be your lack of health. superior and major runes (other than superior vigor) are generally not worth the health sacrifice. you gain 5-8 points of damage but you sacrifice 75 health with every superior rune you use and 35 for every major rune. if you have two superior runes on your armor (as you do with 15expertise and 16 marks) or on a hero you're dropping your health from about 600 to about 450ish. enemies in the latter parts of the game do a lot of damage and 450 health means you die before you have a chance to be healed. minor runes (except vigor) are almost always better unless you need to hit a certain breakpoint. sure you lose 5-8 damage per attack but you have more survivability, which means you don't die as fast, which means you do more damage because you aren't dead.
also you should put some proper mods on your bow and give your heroes proper weapons. most attack weapons (not staffs or wands) should have the inscription "strength and honor" which increases your damage when you're above 50% health and a +30 health bow grip or +5 armor bow grip. this will help with your damage and with your survivability. also, as a ranger, learn to take [distracting shot] and [savage shot] wherever you go. probably two of the best, if not the best, ranger skills in the game. sure those dryders do a lot of damage with [meteor shower] but it takes 5 seconds to cast. one savage or d-shot and you don't have to worry about that particular skill for a while.
